Open Fires and Wood Burning
Posted By rhart on May 15, 2026
The Board of Directors would like to remind residents to follow all applicable guidelines regarding open fires and wood burning within the community, in accordance with the City of Laguna Hills and the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA).
For the safety of all residents and surrounding properties:
- Open fires are not permitted in common areas or on private property, including fire pits, bonfires, or any uncontrolled flame.
- Wood burning is generally prohibited, particularly in outdoor settings, due to fire risk and air quality concerns.
- Gas or propane fire features may be permitted if they are manufactured, properly installed, and used in accordance with OCFA regulations. Residents should ensure these devices are attended at all times and fully extinguished after use.
- During periods of elevated fire risk or Red Flag warnings, all open flame devices may be restricted, including gas appliances.
These rules are in place to protect our community, especially given the increased fire risk in Southern California. Violations may result in enforcement action and could pose serious safety hazards.
For more detailed information, residents are encouraged to review OCFA guidelines or contact the City of Laguna Hills.
