Mailbox Post Painting
Posted By rhart on April 27, 2023
A proposed amendment to the proposed change to the Architectural Guidelines to establish a standard for mailbox post painted was distributed to the membership for a 28-day comment period per Civil Code on March 14, 2023. Specifically, the proposed rule would amend Section III, Item P of the Architectural Guidelines regarding Mailboxes to add the following:
“Maintenance of posts which hold multiple mailboxes is the shared responsibility of the homeowners whose mailboxes are on the post. Mailbox posts are to be painted white and have black numbers to ensure uniformity throughout the community.”
The purpose of the rule change is to establish a standard for the painting of mailbox posts so that they are consistent throughout the community. When it becomes time to paint a mailbox post, the owners would be required to repaint the post according to this standard. The rule has also been revised to allow for custom mailboxes upon approval from the Architectural Review Committee.
At the April 11, 2023 Board of Directors meeting, the Board reviewed homeowner comments and determined to revise the proposed rule as follows:
“Maintenance of posts which hold multiple mailboxes is the shared responsibility of the homeowners whose mailboxes are on the post. Wooden mailbox posts should be repainted in the same manner as the other developer-installed mailbox posts on that particular street. For example, if the mailbox posts on a particular street are painted white, then they should be repainted white, and if they are brown, they should be painted brown and match the original color as closely as possible. White mailbox posts should be painted completely white (no background color) and have black numbers on them to ensure uniformity throughout the community. Owners who wish to deviate from the original developer-installed mailbox posts may submit an application for a customized mailbox post for the Architectural Review Committee to review.”
