Communitywide Tree Removal, Trimming and Replacement Project
Posted By rhart on June 2, 2021
A communitywide tree removal, trimming and replacement project is currently underway. The Association has engaged landscape consulting company Monarch Environmental to survey all of the Association-maintained trees that are located on the community slopes. They have completed their survey and recommended trees for removal based on the criteria below, which are listed in the order of priority:
(1) Dead or dying
(2) Too close to homeowners’ properties, potentially causing damaging or excessive amounts of tree leaves and debris to fall onto properties
(3) Either at or nearing the end of their useful lives and/or not adding any aesthetic value
(4) Blocking homeowners’ views
Vargas Tree Service began the removal portion of the project on March 22nd and has completed the approved removals. They are in the process of trimming all of the pepper trees on the slope and anticipate that the work will be completed by the end of June.
The Board is planning on completing the replanting phase of the project this fall after the weather cools down to help ensure the survival of the new plantings. This summer will be dedicated to planning this phase of the project once the selected trees on the slope have been removed and trimmed. Monarch Environmental has prepared a palette of shrubs and trees that can be used to replant areas of the slopes where trees were previously removed. The Board has consulted with the Landscape Committee, arborist, and landscape company and finalized a palette of 9 trees and shrubs that will be used to replant the slopes. The approved slope plant palette can be viewed by visiting the Resident Portal at resident.actionlife.com. Go to the Documents section of My Community and click on Landscape to access the documents.
The Association will provide updates to the community regarding this project as it progresses.
